Important Travel Update from Soca Wkndr
Posted: 31st March 2026
At Soca Wkndr, we always want our community to travel well, arrive smoothly, and enjoy the experience from the moment the journey begins. That is why we are sharing this important update ahead of the busy spring and summer travel period.
From 10 April 2026, the European Union’s new Entry Exit System, known as EES, is set to begin full operation. This will affect many non EU travellers entering parts of Europe for short stays, including many people travelling on a UK passport.
In simple terms, this means that for some trips into Europe, travellers may no longer just receive a passport stamp. Instead, border authorities may record your entry digitally, which can include scanning your passport, taking a facial image, and collecting fingerprints at the border.
For our Soca Wkndr community, this is worth knowing now so nobody is caught off guard later.

We know many of our travellers are used to moving quickly. Flights get booked, outfits get packed, plans come together, and before you know it, the weekend is in motion.
But this new border system means some journeys into Europe may take a little longer than before, especially during busy periods. We want our community to be informed early so you can plan properly, leave enough time, and avoid unnecessary stress on travel day.
Our goal is simple. We want you focused on the vibes, not surprised at the border.

The Entry Exit System is a new digital border process being introduced across participating European countries for non EU nationals making short stays.
Instead of relying only on passport stamps, the system creates an electronic record of when a traveller enters and leaves. For some travellers, that process may also include biometric checks such as a photo and fingerprints.
The main point is that Europe is moving to a more digital and structured arrival process.
Yes. If you are travelling on a British passport to participating European countries for a short stay, you should expect that this system may apply to you.
The good news is that there is no separate EES form to complete in advance. The process is expected to happen at the border when you travel.
That said, it is still wise to prepare for possible delays, particularly if you are travelling on a busy weekend or arriving close to the start of an event.
This matters for many of the European destinations our community travels to most, including:
Portugal
France
Spain
The Netherlands
Greece
Italy
Malta
So if your travel plans include one of these destinations, this update is especially relevant.

This is important.
The rule is not based only on where you are flying from. It is based on the passport you hold and your travel status.
For travellers coming from the USA, this new border process may also apply when entering participating European countries for a short stay.
For travellers coming from the Caribbean, the position can vary depending on nationality and passport. Some Caribbean passports are visa exempt for short stays in much of Europe, while others may still require a Schengen visa.
That means not every Caribbean traveller will be treated exactly the same, even if they are travelling to the same event or arriving on the same flight route. The safest approach is always to check the rules linked to your own passport before you travel.
We also want to clear up a common point of confusion.
EES is the new border entry system starting in April.
ETIAS is a separate European travel authorisation expected later in 2026.
So for now, the main thing our community needs to be aware of is EES.

We are sharing this because we believe looking after our community also means sharing the information that helps you travel smarter.
Our advice is straightforward:
Check the entry rules linked to your passport.
Leave more time for your journey than you normally would.
Do not cut arrival times too close on the day of an event.
Make sure your travel plans are built with a little breathing room.
Europe is still open. The experiences are still there. The energy is still waiting for you.
We simply want our community to move with awareness, travel with confidence, and arrive ready for the weekend ahead.
At Soca Wkndr, we will always do our best to keep you informed, prepared, and one step ahead.
